This is another contender to the current contest "Negative Space". It's one of the beautiful roses I received from my husband on our 45th Anniversary (Sept 03, 2016).

The rose with its beautiful color tones and in sharp focus stands out so well against the dark negative space Pat.

Pat, the choice is extremely difficult (even by me too, ☺ ), because one can't compare apples (read: lilies) with oranges (read: this splendid rose).

It is the equal of the lily Pat - well spaced and it pops nicely but if I had to pick I'd choose the lily as that orange color really pops against the black even slightly better to my eye.

Congratulations on your 45th, Pat. :o)

I like that you dared and came up with a backdrop colour other than that of simply black. Good good job on the note of your choice and selection of that deep wine red.

Caveats and comparing this image to that of your "Negative Space Day Lily"?

For me.. it comes down the lighting.

And the lily edges this one out by a nudge.

That said..

Now I am not so sure whether or not my eyes have tricked me, on the note of the background colour.
