i couldn't wait till the sun was directly on the horizon because i would have had to walk too far in the dark, but then i wouldn't have had the good sun reflection on the sand.

Dats purty. Ah, ca'mon. Walk in the dark. A photographer will stand on their head, sacrifice arms and legs even their life to get that shot....right? Wrong? Hoooooo kay. I like this as it is. Lovely! I'll keep it AND put it on my desktop, even if you didn't sacrifice your life to get it. Ha!

The effect achieved is very very beautiful, dear Jen.
What I like most is the sun amongst the clouds. The sun is apparently very high up still ...
Great colours here.
Thanks and astronomic congratulations !!!

The clouds make this photo, Jen. I'm not convinced it would have been as dramatic at sunset. I think you got the best shot that was available. Well done! - Dave

Very nice, Jen. Your pictures from Folly Beach have been uniformly excellent and this is no exception. I particularly like the clouds and the reflection on the sand, so you made the right decision when to take the picture.

This clearly was the best time to take this shot. With the sun up as high as it was it cast a great reflection of itself on the water. Great clouds also and an overall great picture.
