i wonder if he's in it?..... actually, i know the answer which is no. we were at a place in va. called willoughby spit. near us was langley afb. the pilots do take offs and landingswith this plane (practice) which is one of several just like it. i guess it's called air force 1 only when the president is aboard. (correct me if i'm wrong, please). it flew so close overhead it was amazing. for some reason we weren't afraid just awed!

Shooting Air Force One? Watch out Jen, you'll have homeland security after you, especially if you used a tripod! lol It sure fills the frame up. Good going!

Nice capture. If the real guy was aboard they probably wouldn't have gotten so close to you and your potential rocket launcher. It is a handsome plane.

Your comments are correct, Jen. That is my understanding, as well. If the prez had been on it, you might have gotten in trouble for photographing it. You know, you have to be careful what you photograph nowadays.

Only when the President is on board is it Air Force One. For President Nixon, they were Air Force One until President Ford was sworn in and then they changes to a regular call sign. It is a great airplane, but flying on the NEACAP,National Emergency Airborne Command Post, was a real experience. By the Way, the President has never set foot on this airplane.
