i once posted another shot of this place. it is the crown piece of oak creek canyon. as a teenager we used to climb in at what seems to be just about the center of this shot and the water would send you sliding down into a pool. it was great fun. we could just park along the side of the road. now, it's a big deal where you have to pay to be in a lot and then walk in....a much longer walk. in the summer they frequently close it because of a high count of (i hate to say this but)ecoli. it's so sad. this was taken at just about sunset in february. and guess what......we parked up on the road and didn't get caught! tee hee! it's a great place to see and was once voted one of the top ten swimming holes in the USA................enjoy! thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions. do we call this one wide screen?

I love this spot and I hate to hear how it's gone downhill (no pun intended). I remember wearing out a few jeans bottoms on these rocks. Still it's a great memory and you've presented it so very well here. Thanks, and yes, this works great on my widescreens ! :)

What great contrasts and colors, Jen. You are so fortunate to have grown up here. What great memories you have made.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Superb colors, the widescreen gives it more perspective. I really get sad when I hear about pollution (bacterial or other).

This looks so impressive on full screen, I love the colours and texture of the rocks. You've captured the movement of the water beautifully, too. An excellent presentation of a wonderful place...Jacquie

It is interesting to compare this image with your previous one. Both are excellent, of course. I like the other one because it gives a larger view of the canyon and the fabulous colors in the rocks. I like this one for the closer perspective on the water which give a better idea of what the "slide" is. I'm glad to have them both and not have to choose between them.

Beautiful shot!!! I used to love going here. This shot brings back the smell of the rocks/water... 15 years back this place would have been crawling with kids sliding and laughing. It was a great place. Awesome capture!! ( and thanks for the memories)

This is spectacular. Great perspective and color. I spent a summer in Oak Creek Canyon and spent a lot of time cooling off here. I'm really sad to hear what's happened to the place. Oh, and I would have expected this score to be higher. 75's not bad, but this is a fantastic capture.

Makes me homesick for the southwestern deserts. The composition is beautiful. The stream angles through the photo perfectly. If I were to paint this scene, I would add some dramatic lighting and shadows. You do such good work.
