this historic area is in walnut canyon which is very near flagstaff, arizona. from go arizona....."Walnut Canyon is a very attractive park featuring a series of single-story cliff dwellings built high on a canyon wall. The dwellings were built and occupied by the Sinagua peoples from about 1100 to 1250 AD." thanks for any comments. ENJOY!

Just goes to show that you don't have to have green to have beauty. This is great.

Glad I didn't have to live here.
I see NO Direct TV Dishes anywhere. LOL.

Another Fine Pic and Post of what most folks would have never seen in a Lifetime.
Thanks for sharing Jen.

A very good post WC. I like the layers with their different colors. A great display of what some call "making do." You made do with a great shot.

Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend.

Nice shot. Love checking out these old ruins. There had to be some very good things about that way of life....

You've done this one justice..I know...I've been there.

And to think people say that there is no long-time history on this continent! They built 'em to last back in the day!!!!!

We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"

Very interesting post. It is interesting to see how people lived in the past. It must have been a pain to haul water.

Great post Jen. I have always been in awe of the cliff dwellers. No one in 2009 can even begin to imagine how they built, lived within, and survived in these dwellings in the desert.
