This is Lower Gate Street Arch as seen from the Quay looking up into High Street. For some reason our local council decided to put down this very odd and non medievil road surface. Ahhh progress..
Brilliant shot. It is like a scene from Dr Who where they are in the past but can see the future. Only here you can do it for real. You are right. It's not the most authentic road surface is it?
Well, the surface of the road ties in nicely with the cars seen through the portal. Except for the slight overexposure in the background, this is a very impressive photo.
"Where there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see." ~Dorothea Lange
Great title Jo - those ancient stones and the modern cars such a contrast. I wonder if the new road surface will last as long as the building.
Nice post :) Well taken.
