For those cold winter nights, we have a nice chair close to the fireside. The little box by the chair is a foot warmer. Warm coals from the fire would be placed in the earthen ware pot, the heat would come up through the holes, and keep the feet nice and toasty warm. The chair doesnt look very comfy though I have to say. We have a few more things to see in Dorothy's bedroom, and then we are going to tackle the tower steps. These are extremely steep and creaky, so anyone who doesnt like the look of them can sit in the grand hall till we come back down. Thank you for looking xx

If she would have had Owd Robert come to bed, she wouldn't have needed the footwarmer. lol Owd Robert, is that the longer version of Owd Bob? Nice photo Jo and I like the information. Great and interesting series.

Mmm I like the foot warmer, but her Ladyships chair looks uncomfortable, & the bed mattress is too hard !! Seems even the Gentry suffered discomfort in days of olde.
Nice work Jo

Perhaps she had a special pillow for her back? At least her toeses were rosy. Great idea. If I ever get a camp, I'll have to remember this!

Nicely taken.

We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"
