I have had a bee's nest under my shed this year, and have got quite fond the bees in there. They have been no nuisence at all once they knew I only wanted to study in my shed. Recently though we have been finding dead or dying bees walking around the garden, some with shrivelled wings. This is one out there today, I thought it was pollen on his back, but when I got closer I saw that they were tiny little spider like things. I have no idea what they are, or if these are the reason the bees are dying. I am going to ring the local beekeeping association to see what they think. Poor thing posed for this picture, then tried to fly away but he couldnt stay up in the air for long. So this is his last photo. Poor thing xx

Jo, what a sad picture this is. I think you'll find that they are Verroa Mites. They are spreading throughout our bee stock. You need to speak to an expert about getting rid of them.

I guess the question to bee or not to bee has been answered Jo. Maybe it is just the time of year when they give it up. Good post.

yeah, this is the main reason the bee stocks are down and honey is getting dearer!...I agree with Steve (Braces)....

Also, it could be the kind of weather we had had recently!..

A crackin shot and well done for the excellent detail on it!

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)
