As far as the "right moment" goes... I don't think it was very lucky. I've been there once and it looked the exact same. I was kinda mad because I wanted to see more of the city. I could only see about one block of it at a time due to the fog.
This is nice, a friend has a black and white poster very similar look. I think this must be a common view in SF, I do know it's foggy a lot. I think that your shot with the tinge of color is more appealing than the black and white view though. The angle that you got the bridge, the scale, etc. are all perfect in my opinion. Very nice. Sorry I can't offer any suggestions on how to make it better, I don't know that you could. :)
I like this. Ive been down there many times. The pic I took of the brick wall with the pidgeon on it, was taken down thee. But yoiu captured it with the fog, and that makes it very unique..very wonderful photo....
Oh how I miss the City, andd the wonderful fog!! I used to live in Bernal Heights, and would walk around the corner to my fave coffee shop... and every morning, early, it would be cool and foggy...I just loved it. This is a wonderful shot, beautiful!!!
