Such a powerful photo Dan. It looks so massive against the forest area. Hard to believe there is such beauty as this on this earth. Thank you so much for posting this. I do believe you're going to be putting alot of pcs to the test with all the downloads of your vacation. But I'm certainly going to test mine. Thanks Bud!
What a grand image Dan. The massive rock looks so majestic against those clouds. Looks like you had a wonderful trip & I know this is only the beginning. Thanks for sharing one of nature's amazing wonders.
Wow. This is totally different from your first post. Amazing how "up close" changes things.
The colors and detail in the tower are a pleasure to examine. Just how tall is that thing? The trees look like toothpicks.. This is a keeper. Great post.

Ya ever wonder why God put a big silly rock in the middle of nowhere for us to look at and remember a stupid UFO movie. He is laughing at us right now saying " those silly kids and their art, they think they know so much..." " I just put a rock out there because it was kinda boring"

How can I help but think of "close encounters"?!! sheesh, but its a amazing shot, the fact that you were there....this is for SURE an odd spot for the rock and the movie, but maybe thats why they did the movie eh?... just like the huge monolith here at Cannon Beach, Oregon...strange eh? But what would we do if we didnt have these things to take pictures of? I imagine many people climb that rock all year long . Im sure glad you took this pic, and I love how the trees and land look..Verena
Well it is a beautiful shot...but Close Encounters was not a stupid UFO movie...it was ground breaking. Not that I cared for it that much. Although Devil's Tower was a very interesting landmark....which brings us back to your lovely capture of it. See how everything works out?!
Looks nothing like mashed potatos from here.
(you have to have seen the film to get that obscure reference)
Exellent photo, no wonder it's sacred, it imposes itself in the view for a hundred miles.
