This is a slight touchup of the original photo for the image "Tomato Still". It's not so retouched I'd call it a manipulation though... Just some minor flaws I did my best to remove. This is one of my personal favorite shots among the ones I've taken recently.

:) Thanks Tracy, you and Bob did a very nice manip of it for the contest. I just felt like submitting the original shot since I like it so much.

very artistic. your setup was executed quite nicely. I like the original better than the manip, it boasts your photographic skills.

Well done.My only critique is that I would have preferred a smooth and shiny surface where the light spot is.I like it.

Thanks for the feedback. I understand your point. I actually did the reverse, add texture to parts that were overexposed (and thus burnt out). I never though of taking away some texture. I'll try it out and see what happens.

Härliga tomater, Klas...önskar bara att de hade lite mera smak. Dom var bättre förr...
Snyggt komponerad och genomförd bild.

WOW, I love the colors and forms of the fruit and the way they transition from the light into the darkness. Their arrangement is very pleasing and the highlights on the closer two are just right. The subtle reflections on the wooden table (?) and the light colored arc of the plate (?) are perfect framing for the ensemble. I especially like how you surrounded them with a generous amount of darkness. Normally I would say "closer", but in this photo, I think the darkness adds strength.

Thanks, I can say some additional things, since you had some question-marks there. The only thing possibly visible in that shot is an evenly white table, the tomatoes and shadows. The rest is shadow-play and reflections. I had no wooden table or plate there and the wall behind the subject is hardly visible in those shadows. I tried a similar setup with the tomatoes in a glass-bowl but that didn't work out at all. I'm glad you liked the highlights on the tomatoes since I put some energy in getting the burnt out areas there look ok.

I agree with Neamh I would prefer the light reflkection on the surface to be cloned away and replaced with the natural texture.Other than that small point it is an excellent image in all aspects from lighting to composition to detail to color.Well done.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you elaborated since I didn't understand Neamh exactly like that. I did try to make it look natural , adding natural texture to the bright spots but I guess it could look quite nice without the reflections.

Hi Klas
i wonder...how many comments i still need to write...you have such a lot of great pictures.
and instead of "The Fractal Geometry of Nature " this one is edible.
But more then that...its a marvelous picture.
I love the fact that i can still see the details in the darkparts.
And for me this is the photographic equivalent of a renaissance still life
