I was asked to give a comment on this pic. Here's an amateur's point of view down below.
The subject, a smaller type of a sea gull, is well centered but is small; i.e., either a tele lens should have been used, or else, you'd have to take your chance and get closer to the bird! The blue water in the background, and the sky are pleasing and beautiful. The colours could be more vivid. The dock in the foreground is monotonous and does not add anything to the pic: the framing could be better. The focus can't be commented on as the subject is too far. The clarity is adequate. Overall, I find this an acceptable pic but in need of improvement. I'd give it one green light, one amber light, and one red light.
I like this: the surface of the water and the wood of the landing make a striking image. I would crop the picture to get the horizon straight, or perhaps crop out the horizon. The bird is a bit too small, but if you change the title from the bird to the background to shift the focus, it's ok.
I think the compositionhere is more interesting than the bird itself (which is really too far away/too small to be the focus of the image). I find the lines in the boardwalk and the horizon the appealing parts of the photo for me. Therefore I would have advised to make the horizon a bit lower (rule of thirds) and make sure it was straight (or straighten on the computer afterwards). But I guess if the gull was what you were trying to capture you probably weren't focussed on these things...
