Now if this isn't a candidate for a photo journalism gallery I don't know what is. Not just another pretty picture, this is a slice of life, an element of ethnic heritage. All the rich detail in her garb and the structure behind her is perfectly counter-balanced by the dark void to the left, both visually and metaphorically. The dark can be interpreted in so many ways in relation to the woman - her past, her future, her escape, her sanctuary. Plus, no photographic treatment exudes pathos as well as black & white - her face can tell us stories without our even hearing her voice. This is an outstanding photo, Nadia. Be very proud of it.
