Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...is this ever goooooooooooood. I would like to know how you captured this; what camera settings; tripod? What lens. This is the best capture I have ever seen. Absolutely fantastic. I love that tree and the lighting on the branches. The detail showing thru in the sky is awesome as well. This is as professional as it gets. It ought to be featured in some photo mag. It's going up onn my desktop right now.

Very pretty! That moon was a'glowing last night, wasn't it? And me...I was soooo b----y! I thought I had PMS! Had to be the moon. I think this is lovely and spell-binding!
oh man the moon was bright last night...i was out in a heavily wooded area at a fiends house and so it couldnt have been from lights, but it almost seemed like evening when there is a bad storm, so it gets pretty dark but not completely? anyways this is really a great capture, the moon is so sharp and clear...and big! love the eary feel with the big tree. but like jzaw said....how is the light on that side of the tree...? great post, just beautiful! ~abby
Just thought I would add a comment of my own to answer a question ... There was actually light on the other side of that tree ..so perhaps that is what lit it up .... There was also no bark on that part of the tree so it would not take much to light up ... I live in a city ..hard to find perfectly dark spots to take shots ..
Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments ..Much appreciated..

Holy cow Ruby this is absolutely fantastic! You have to feel really good about this one! I hope I get to give it a 10 in the VB. It makes an outstanding DT. Thank you so much for this.
OUTSTANDING JOB Ruby, I know how difficult night shots can be but you have really nailed this one. A perfect 10 ...thanks for sharing....................Don
I was hoping someone would take a shot of that moon last night. It was still high in the sky when the sun was coming up as I went to work at 6:15 this morning. Wonderful composition Ruby. You just have a great eye for it!
Hands down , the best moon shot I have ever laid my eyes on Ruby.Stunning photography. If this doesn't make the permanent gallery all hope is lost. Into my favs.
Everyone has weighed in with their particular praise or critiquing comment, so I'll add my own. I'm standing on the side of this is an excellent...no, superior shot of the moon, and the tree is placed as if it were an adoring admirer of the heavenly visitor...but I do have a question for you and I can only explain it in one way. While I understand that you have a difficult lighting environment to work with..or it's working against you, I should say...I don't think it takes anything from the brilliant composition here. But what I'd like to know is why in the foreground from about the middle of the tree all the way to the left, but only about a 16th of the way up does there appear to be another reflection of different trees, buildings, horizon line? Surely you didn't take this from inside a car..that's what I was thinking it was..a reflection from a nearly rolled down window. but it doesn't extend over to the right, so that can't be it. It's driving me nuts.....that's all..I love it..it's in my faves...excellent work, as always :)PJ oh, and I was looking at it at 1152x824
One of the best Quality night shots I 've in a long, long time!.....Reciprocates Pats comment....A magazine would be pround of this one.........Really well done.....
Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out they've got a second. Give your dreams all you've got and you'll be amazed at the energy that comes out of you.
I'm glad there was other light in the shot, the sky and the details in the trees are what really sell it. Absolutely beautiful (the picture and your composition as well) Even the glass reflection across the bottom doesn't hurt it.
Can't always give individual thanks but I am so appreciative of everyone's comments and input. I truly enjoy seeing all of your posts and am always happy to see you at My Gallery. Thanks, Anita
Well, I am going to add my two cents Ruby. Like everybody alse I will say this is FANTASTIC capture. Your clarity in such a low light situation is perfect...gerry..
You remember the great fire from 1979 that supposedly started in your garage where that chipmunk ingested some fertilizer and fell into a can of kerosene, instantly turning into a flying little fluffy little molotov cocktail that set a blaze leveling the whole neighborhood west of Newton's Hardware Store?
Oh my, this is wonderful. I love it! I agree with the general sentiment here, the clarity, lighting, the compisition--supurb. Thank you for sharing!
I'm a bit confused by something though. Perhaps this is an illusion, but what's going on in the bottom left corner? It almost looks like a reflection, it seems to be another layer--there is a clear line of lighting change between the majority of the shot, and what seems like a house, far away, by some trees.

I have been meaning for some time now to drop by to congratulate you on this fantastic moon shot Ruby...the best I've ever seen and not one that comes easily...thanks for sharing...top marks if it comes up in the booth for me and saved on my hard drive...this should be in the current contest.:Pat.
I'd say it was taken out of a house window and outside there was a floodlight? That's the only way I can think of the lighting working like that. It sure makes for an interesting photo :)
PatAndre above said a mouthful above about this posting. No sense my repeating her very words but I couldn't have expressed my thoughts any better than she did when I saw this one. This is a 10 if ever I saw one. Another one for my favorites ... THANK YOU LADYRED!
Very nice post. Jas
