Cromwell, Connecticut, USA. With temperatures of -2C this morning, we had our first frost. Sunshine, fog on the valley, and a cancelled meeting left me with the urge to take the camera for a walk along the river. This frost-capped grass tuft was found along the path. A few minutes later, frost was melted. Enjoy! Critique welcomed.

This is a simple yet beautiful shot, Thad. Technically the shot is right on the button. Excellent clarity, perfect depth of field and a nice dark background that really emphasizes the frost. When I left for the gym this morning for my swim, it was already 85°F (29.4°C).

Beautiful lighting a DOF, Thad. Perfect focus on the subject. We finally had out first frost yesterday.

Frost was probably on the pumpkin as well Thad. The frost hasn't hit here as of yet. Nothing but good things in this one.

And thus it begins!! Winter is creeping in and soon this frost will be snow. Great close up of this frost covered tuft!

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

A wondrous capture of a fleeting moment, Thad. Good focus and dof with some beautiful lighting on your subject. Thanks for sharing.

Think about the photo before and after, never during. The secret is to take your time. You mustn't go too fast. The subject must forget about you. Then, however, you must be very quick. Henri Cartier-Bresson

A little glimpse of what we'll have to "look forward to" Thad. I really like how the rime is on the top of the stem and ear, but underneath you can see it melting. Great close-up work.

Such a great close up shot! Has a very delicate feel with how softly the frost is laying on the plant. Nice job.

Nice and clear image of the "iced foxtail" Thad. We are still having about 48°F but for how long?
