Juneau, Alaska, USA. Those who live in the Northwest, know that large portions of the region are temperate rainforest. In the panhandle of Alaska, the Tongass National Forest is the size of the combination of the New England states. Receiving over 120 inches of rainfall per year, the moss grows freely over everything. The large flat leaves are of the Devil's Club plant, one that has medicinal value. Enjoy!

It looks like those big flat leaves are floating in air. Another beautiful shot, Thad.

Welcome to the NW! We have moss growing out of our ears! This reminds me a lot of the Olympic Rain forest in Washington State. Very stunning and beautiful!

Ooo it looks very lush and dank and verdant :) I love the almostly limey green colour of the moss and the contrast it has with those very bright green leaves.

What a great entry this would have been for the recent green contest - really lush.

What, in the US, isn't the size of all the NE states or bigger, other than Hawaii, NJ and Delaware? lol Such a tangle of fallen trees and mosses and oh so beautiful in greens, yellows and browns. So many textures too. Have to check out Devil's Club.

This looks very much like the forests we have around here. I love the moss, it makes everything look so soft and smooth.

A wonderful sight Thad and an excellent photo.
It is almost 3 dimensional and the large laves appear to be floating.
