Westbrook, Connecticut, USA. At Middle Beach, this lone gull was standing at water's edge, while each tidal wave rolled past him. If he only had more than a bird brain, he might have moved. (Of course, I write this knowing that I sat on a low rock seawall in the cold to take this photo. If I only had more than...) Enjoy!

A nicely composed scene and capture, Thad. A good DoF in the photo.

I agree that it is a very well composed scene and a very emotional capture as well.

If you would have sat in the sand rather than the rock seawall to take this picture, Thad, you could have left more of an impression on the beach. lol.

I find this to be an excellent composition, Thad with the contrasting of the elements and of the colors. And, of course the brilliant diagonal.

Such is the life of a lonely undercover Seagull, Thad.
I hope you didn't blow his cover.
Good shot.

One thing I've learned, Thad, is that I cannot possibly begin to keep up with my comments when most of my Caedes friends are in the Cadre and posting two shots. Of your two gull postings, I picked this one.

He does look cold, but I suspect that he's doing pretty well. I've never encountered too many gulls that weren't smart and tough. I think this guy is doing fine.

The composition is what caught my eye. The gull is the center of attention and perfectly placed. Excellent DoF and subdued colors really make this one a keeper. I have a 300mm telephoto lens and have not yet been able to shoot any wildlife that is so clearly defined. Either my dog costume is scaring away the gulls or I need a larger lens or need to start carrying my tripod.

I so love to walk on the ocean front. The warm weather is coming and I hope to enjoy it soon. Going to the cape in March, in fact. Haven't been there is a few years.
I love that you got down low for this one and the sea and sand look great.

The gull is used to the cold. Your title must be referring to you then! Excellent shot again, Thad.

Marvelous composition, love the action of the water and the look on the gulls face. I'm with Cindy, I love walking along the waterfronts with the waves coming in
