Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. In the University of Virginia's Academical Village, Pavilion VII was the first building erected, with the cornerstone being laid on October 6, 1817 by US President James Monroe, with Thomas Jefferson and James Madison participating. The cost for this pavilion was $9,399.73 (1817 dollars). Initially, it served as the library, until completion of the rotunda library in 1826, after which it housed only three professors from 1826 to 1907. Since 1907 it has been used as the center for the Colonnade Club, a faculty social organization. Pavilion VII now is the only one of the ten that does not house a faculty member.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

An impressive building and beautifully composed, Thad. I especially like how the trees and branches frame your shot. The students and pumpkins fit in nicely as well. Good Work my friend!!!

Gorgeous buildings they have on and near campus, excellent information and that was a very expensive building to build back then. Fantastic capture and lighting, bravo
