River Highlands Park, Cromwell, Connecticut, USA. For his Eagle project, a Boy Scout laid out trails in this woodland (long ago farmland), and with help from friends cut the trails. The State of Connecticut has identified it as a state park in 2001. Relatively small in size, and off the beaten path, it is a tranquil place mostly used by locals, like me. Several trails lead to bluffs above the Connecticut River, while one leads to the river banks. With light filtered by the canopy of trees, there are lots of interesting flora to see along the trails. Here is a small white pine struggling to make it with towering hardwood trees nearby. Enjoy!
