Everglades National Park, Florida, USA. White Ibis are so abundant in the Everglades, that the locals call them Chokoloskee Chickens. (I didn't ask if they ate them like checken.) Here are a number of them roosting in a dead mangrove tree on the banks of the shallow Turner River. There's one heron trying to cut in on the party.

Although white Ibis are so abundant in the Everglades, it's a pretty rare sight to me, Thad.

Perfectly taken shot of these 'fishermen' (and/or fisher-ladies) probably having an off-day, ☺ . Well done, my friend.

What a great capture Thad - I remember them from Florida but not filling a tree like this.

"One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn't belong..." but he's trying! This image is quite a sight...I wonder why they gather like that... Anyway, a great capture!

Quite an amazing capture Thad.
On first looking at the thumbnail I thought they were white blossoms.
A pleasure to view :)

Fantastic shot with 17 already roosting for the evening. It's so much fun watching them come back each day.

These are one of my favourite birds down here. They do gather together in large groups like this often. I laughed when you mentioned the Chokoloskee Chicken comment. That comes from Totch Brown who used to live in the area. I have a recipe they had at the museum and they do sound like good eating, although a bit lean.
