Everglades National Park, Florida, USA. I was photographing some alligators that had gathered at a watering hole, when a woman asked me if this one was real - I had been looking past the area below me. Assuring her it was real - big - I put my camera over the fencing to get this photo. Big Al was too large to capture with my 24-70mm lens, so imagine another five feet of tail, totaling about sixteen feet in length. His interest was not in my taking his photo, rather he was warming up in the sun.

Big Al is a big guy alright, Thad. Did you get any closeups? I understand that these alligators are tame.

Actually I have watched people at National Parks who seem to think they're on a ride at Disneyland. I have watched people turn their backs to huge breakers at the ocean and watched a family of four texting while walking the north side of the Grand Canyon.

I was pleased to read that there is some fencing protecting these animals from people (and more importantly vice versa)
What an enormous creature this is.
A fine shot

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Hope that Raj isn't right with his above comment.
Think 'Al' did a futile effort to stay incognito. There's no reason to be that shy, because he's a 'handsome' and impressive critter, ☺ .

Good one, Thad!
