Perfect Foofy Friday macro, Thad. The vivid tones and lighting are that special that I've wondered why it wasn't crowded with butterflies. If I were a butterfly, I wouldn't have missed this excellent opportunity, ☺ .

Verbena is a lovely flower - they come in a variety of colors and I often see them in hanging baskets - love the colors in your post Thad - Great Capture!!!!!!!!

There's a few things that make this image for me, and in my humble opinion.
Colour contrasts, for one. And on this note, natural and vibrant.
And then, perhaps.. the deciding factor, which still has a technical side to it.. is the DOF employed and that of the perspective (composition).
Such that, the bloom's stalk is still discernible and the bloom does not appear to be simply floating in mid-air.

And..
But, of course.. thank you for sharing this one with us.
