I wish it had been sharper, but they'd pop up and peer at me, soooo totally curious, then disappear before I could get a steady shot with the tripod, so I gave up and was shooting as I could, while also keeping my eyes on the alligator that was very near me....:)
Hey there Mister Madman, wat'cha know that I don't know
Tell me some crazy stories, let me know who runs this show
Glassy-eyed and laughing, he turns and walks away
Tell me what made you that way

I love your title also Terri- it immediately whisked me away to the 70's LOL. You're right about them being quick so you were really lucky to have even gotten a shot. I like the way it's looking at you as if thinking "She's STILL here?" LOL. Cute post.
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

I particularly like the diagonal line of the pads and the offset placement of your focal subject in this image. Combined, they add up up to a very professional shot in my books.
Very, very good detail on the otter's face. Given what you say above, about their elusiveness ... yeah, nice work.
Caveats? Hmm ... just suggestions. You could bump up the colour contrasts quite easily and make things pop a little more, as they say. But, no biggie.
This is fine work from behind the lens. And given the conditions that you are shooting under, light and subject wise ... excellent.
And most certainly thank you for sharing your efforts. I love these playful and curious animals.
I just love this Terri. Youve captured the inquisitive nature of these adorable creatures perfectly. Always out for a bit of fun I reckon hes thinking 'I wonder if she'll play water tag with me'. Very charming shot, thanks for sharing it with us.
Cheers,
Steve.

I am confused how Otters can co-exist with gators .. unless, hmmmm ... unless this whole "big bad gator" thing is a buncha hogwash .. just to keep real-estate prices reasonable in the sunshine state
Another one of your expert animal shots Terri.
