This porch is REALLY on a Florida Cracker Style house. Ya thought "Cracker" was an insult? It's really an actual style/name for the old farm style houses in olden days here in Florida. This house will be featured in other shots I have too...if interested...along with more details. :)

I really like the composition and angle of this shot. Looks kinda like a lotta yarns have been spun here, so to speak. Or am I mixing New Englandisms with Southern style? Anyway, really enjoyed this picture and the different feeling it brings (to me, anyway). And for the explanation of cracker, which I didn't know!

Someone has just left those chairs, I hear them rocking gently.
It is a very good capture Terri, nice angle and thanks for the interesting info too. Look forward to more.

Nahh!!! A "cracker" porch would have a broken railing, and a leaky roof! (LOL) Nice shot...

I love these type of homes Terri. My Grandparents lived in one this style when I was younger. They didn't have air conditioning and would raise all the windows in the house when it was a nice day. The breezes that passed through felt like heaven and I can remember playing on a front porch similar to this. Yes, please do show more of this home- I would love to see it as my Grandparents home is gone now.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Is this where they got the name for the Cracker Barrell stores here in the states? Love that porch. I want one.

This is great Terri, all that's missing is a pond just in front of the porch so you can dangle a rod over the railing! I love the way Caedes enables members to find out a bit more of the history of different parts of the world [e.g. Sabine showing us Vienna] and although I've never visited Florida I feel as if I know a little more about it. Many thanks.
Steve.
