Before moving, I took one last hike in the peaceful Paradise Meadows on Vancouver Island, BC. Among the patchy snow were these clumps of Heather.

The closest one is a tad fuzzy, but overall, I love the image, especially the rain droplets. Beautiful work.

Beautiful capture Darryl with only the center blossom in focus. Great work with your camera. The water drops are a wonderful added bonus to the softness and gentleness of this image. The color is quite intense as well. All around neat capture. Rather poignant for you, I am sure........one week to go!
I wanted to look up some info about mountain laurel because I happen to love the way the blooms look and I found this awesome site that shows mountain laurel that looks really similar to your shot. Anyone interested can look HERE...........thanks for sharing your this beauty with us! Right to my favorites folder on my hard drive so it can run in my screensaver slideshow program :~)

Hi there my friend, its sooo good to see a posting of yours. But you know, I'm not so sure this is a type of heather. I was born in Germany, as you know, and there was tons of heather all over the ground where I lived, which was right next to the North Sea..but the heather didnt look like little bells. I wonder if this flower of your could be something different? But either way, its gorgeous. I adore the water droplets! How precious. and the colour of these little bells is just sooo pretty. Mimi said mountain laurel? I will have to look that up....it sounds beautiful.oooh I did look at that pic...and they do look much alike...very nice.....great shot!! verena

Hi Darryl, this is so pretty, so uniquely beautiful! Such a marvelous and eye catching pruple! The freshness of the flower is always well enhanced by the droplets of water and even in the snow which prompts further interest!! Very nice Darryl, simply lovely!! I hope your move is a happy one for you and Sharon! That one last walk was an emotional one I am sure, but a necessary one, for etching in stone those fond memories, for which I am sure you both made many! Sincerely, Marilyn

Thank you for the fine comments my friends. Apparently this is not a true heather (Calluna vulgaris) but called so becuase it looks very similar.

These look like three bells-quietly beautiful. The lavender purple color is lovely. These blooms have a gentle feel. The rain drops enhance this gorgeous image. The blurred green background helps bring them forward and make these beauties the true 'stars'. Very stunning work Darryl..thanks and good luck on your move :*>

Couldn't you just post a lousy picture once in awhile to make the rest of us feel better? Here we are with ANOTHER exquisite, beautiful composition, perfect in color, perfectly rendered, perfectly focused, perfect in content....it's too bad I can't find nothin nice to say about it, so I will move on...(slams door, sits down at computer, starts to cry...wonders if she'll ever be able to do this good...)

Nice macro shot .. good colour. I may have focused on the foreground bloom rather than the second in line .. but still nicely done. The water drops are great.

Hello Mayne, I saw your photo in the voting booth. I should have guessed that an image of this quality was taken by you. You say that this heather plant was in Paradise Meadows. That doesn't surprise me. The warmth of this picture is amazing. The colour of the petals is soft and soothing. Topped off by the tranquilness of the water droplets resting on them. Overall, you have produced yet another classic. I want to be critical but find that I simply can't. Well done.

Hmm this is a majical shot. I love how the water drops shine and the clarity of it as every body does. Apart from that there is a natural balance on this shot and a hidden beauty created by the out of focus leafes. Great!!

These are absolutely sweet. Reminds me of bluebells (I'm not very flower-smart), they are all over the path into the woods where my grandparents cottage stands. What a treasure to find these in the snow, lovely shot. And again I envy where you live, you capture B.C.'s many faceted beauty so well. Thanx...............Amaris
