An Osprey nest a couple of hundred yards across the river. One was standing guard while the other was feeding the two chicks. This shot was way out of range but i had to try anyway. FZ50 W/700MM + Digital zoom + Cropping

Not bad for an out of range shot Ed! Just love those cypress trees and this is a priceless moment! :)Ami

Bravo, Ed! You got him in the shot better than I could ever accomplish. I could get up to 700mm in my dreams maybe. lol
She picked a very pretty Spanish Moss festooned location to raise her brood.

Looks a lot like an eagle Huck. Good shot considering the distance. I am glad you posted it. The Spanish Moss alone was worth the photo. Osprey are frosting.

I can see that it must have been quite a way off, Ed. At least you still got a reasonably good shot. The tree and the moss look impressive.

I look forward to the day when they replace the great Lumix FZ50, just imagine a x18 zoom Leica lens 14mega pixels etc etc !!

In the meantime you still done good Ed after all there's a wide range to cover in this shot I can just imagine those Osprey chicks enjoying their fish supper. (o:

I always say ... if the opportunity is there for a shot then go for it ... and that you did. Even for the distance you captured this scene at I can make out the details on the Osprey. Love the textured Spanish Moss. Fantastic post Ed.
