Mimosa are such an interesting tree flora!! Nice find, however...yup, there's a however. It's a wee harsh in the overall whites / gamma, that could be cleaned up in post if you're into that. The backdrop is a little distracting as well, sorry!! Perhaps backing off and using the zoom (not sure what you're shootin' with though), to create a nice blurred backdrop. Here's one of my mimosa pics as way of comparison. Just search (<<<over there under wallpaper search for "mimosa") as there's lotsa good shots...see which you prefer. I do like the overall comp as you get to see more mimosa workin' around!! Keep'em coming as we always wanna see more!!
nice to see some flourishing life in the middle of winter (here).
Take what Hottrockin said with a grain of salt. You've clearly already done what he's suggesting with the depth of field. You just happened to not have the most favorable lighting when you took the shot. This exact image at sunset would be brilliant.
alright, first off, sorry for the delay in my comments Robert!
Second...
I like the perspective of the shot.. your angle works well. I also think the clarity on the middle mimosa (it seems to have a nice little line of 3) is pretty good.
When I viewed it full screen, I could see where you did some sharpening on the left one. I opened it up in photoshop and here's what i did...
Cropped the image cutting it right down the middle. Since the left mimosa was out of focus, it brought the attention to the ones that had the best clarity and balance between sharpness and softness. I also went into curves (we can chat it up later about curves) and really pumped up the colors and darkened the sky.
I'll email you the edits to your university email and you can let me know what you think. This is one of your better shots Robert and the things Randy (Hottrockin) and I have mentioned are some suggestions to enhance it a bit more.
