Not much on clarity but big on drama, taken from the west side of Launch Pad 39B, Discovery is viewed moments after liftoff on mission STS-121. The launch made history as it was the first ever to take place on Independence Day.

Great Shot Phil. Were you there for the launch?

Another big 'wow' factor Phil! I think I like this one better than the other one. It seems a bit clearer...or I need to clean my glasses! :=)
I set this one as my background. The angle is really neat with the water in the foreground and the billowing smoke.....once again, many thanks my friend ;~)

Boy, didn't take you long to go get this one. I watched it on TV. It was great. So far, so good! great choice of shots. Love the other one also. Now, do you see that bird in the composition? I don't know how close it is but it is haulin a_ _! I would give my right arm to know what is going thru that little bird brain right now. (My husband says I should know). Thks for posting. I'm keeping this one.

Four hours of the NASA channel the other day, I was hoping you had a shot and this is my favorite of the ones you posted. I love these taken from the water side, it keeps the earth very much in the picture

This is a great shot - what a perfect day for the launch! This is better than most of the official NASA pictures! Great job and thanks for sharing!

By the way, Pat asked what was going through that little bird's brain at the moment - if it (the bird) didn't manage to vamoose rather quickly, I'd speculate that it wasn't long before it's "hind end" was what was going through it's brain... ouch!
