"It's not you.. it's me."

________________________________________________

So.. seems like a number of us enjoyed the "B/W Challenge".

So.. what I am thinking is.. let's resurrect the challenge for some fun. We can use the comments on this image to flesh it out and then get on with the creativity.

My thoughts..

1) Time frame.. four (4) weeks to submit an entry.

2) I will collate all the entries into a post of mine at the end of the time frame. Peeps can then view them from one place and then PM me their rankings of images.. ie. their top pick, second pick, and so on.

3) I will follow up with a 'final' post on the challenge with the rankings and links once again to the participating entries.

4) We pop the e-champagne and toast the participants.

Les, first of all thanks for this excellent B&W creation.
I've read your narrative with very much interest too.
I really appreciate this lovely initiative of yours. But I regret to repeat in a certain extent that I'm not convinced that your laudable initiative is feasible as long as the number of contributing Caedes members doesn't grow significantly. I sometimes look at 'Other Stuff that wouldn't fit anywhere else/Member Information/Most Active Members', but when I see the current weekly results, my courage actually sinks. I'm an advocate of the motto: "Perseverance wins", but then it must be based on a favorable future perspective. However, I hope that many other constructive reactions will come that will give the lie to my gloomy assumption. It would be the first time that I would applaud for such an incorrect assumption of mine.
I hope that you'll be able to inspire many Caedes friends. In any case, thank you very much for the very much done effort made so far.

I hear / read what you are saying, Cornelius.

To me..

This might be a venture, small in numbers.. but, I do think it would be fun and a way of diversifying the image uploads a bit. And a chance to flex our collective creative muscles.

I strive to be.. "always.. eternally.. optimistic".

If during the four weeks, we post more than one B&W, will you simply pick one for the contest?

This is excellent. I like the low vantage point , it adds even more depth and shows the fine details. I am curious about that shadow on the cobblestones. I like it because it adds to this.
I shall dig in and see if I have something worthy to add for this B&W challenge.

An excellent and thought provoking image. I derived a great deal of pleasure from running the previous B & W Challenge. In the beginning it was very time consuming to run but sadly latterly became inviable due to a smaller talent pool which is why I reluctantly terminated it. I believe those that did participate enjoyed it until the end. I hope this new one with a different format proves successful.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Another thought - if the contest aspect does not work maybe we could just resurrect B & W Wednesday (similar to Foofy Friday and Manic Monday) to encourage more participation in the B & W genre.

I too admire the angle of this and great clarity of detail - can even see the spike heel on the female! I really like the ideas for a new B&W challenge of some type. In fact I'm posting a B&W today - thanks Les.

@John; aka casechaser..

You wrote/asked..

"If during the four weeks, we post more than one B&W, will you simply pick one for the contest?"

Choice of entry will remain with the member.

No harm, no foul.. posting multiple entries and then alerting us as to which will be your entry. This was allowed in past site contests, so, ok for this "B/W Challlenge" as well.

@Tomeast..

"I am curious about that shadow on the cobblestones. I like it because it adds to this."

That was the result of AI 'hallucinating' a bit. Going rogue.
Funny that you make mention of it.. 'cause.. I did have the thought, that if I had Photoshop, I might have been tempted to clone it out. Then, sat with it for a bit.. and despite it's randomness.. kinda liked it?

@LynEve..

"Another thought - if the contest aspect does not work maybe we could just resurrect B & W Wednesday (similar to Foofy Friday and Manic Monday) to encourage more participation in the B & W genre."

Great idea, Lyn.
Could you refresh my memory.. on the note of resurrecting.. would this be once a month?
Once a week?

@Kathy..

I think 'we' can have some fun with this.
And, I am hyped.. to see some B & Ws in the "New Images".

:o)

Is this just a BNW challenge, are their any rules? I would make a submission or two.
