The Mississippi River crested yesterday from its historical height, and began to fall, but my client, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers opened the flood-gates along the river to allow river water to spill out across the open land directly into the Gulf of Mexico. They do this to keep the water levels down at New Orleans, so the levees won't break or be submerged. My client asked me to go get some photos for their publications, and I shot this one to give a live face to the mechanical descriptions of my client's operations at the flood control structure.

Nice Image Regmar. You accomplished your mission with this shot by showing just how much volume is being forced through the structures and into the Spillway. Fine Action shot as well.

Very nice Regmar. It does show the power of the water. In a perfect world the wing of egret would have been down just a little to allow full view of the head. It really shows how the water doesn't really affect those that can fly. Nice work.

Nice colors , but i don't like the composition in this . Maybe if you allowed more room for the flight direction ..

Hi REg..it's so good to see you are still around, and it's quite something to think of how the ol' Miss is doing and give thought to the levees etc. I imagine a lot of people don't give it a second thought. I think of New Orleans a lot...and hope things are improving. I miss the Egrets, the Bayous, and the people, most of all. There is no one as friendly as theones in the South...Thanx for this post and the write up. Please post some more photos..soon...your friend, VErena
