Rob, although Ann Hathaway, born in Gloversville, upstate New York, was a very good New York City (jazz) singer of the late 1940s, she's pretty unknown (she doesn't even have a Wikipedia page).
She sang popular songs and ballads too and worked in television and radio. She did performances in Europe as well.
