Down at the riverfront there are many sites to see. Including this incredible monument that was erected in honor of all the South Bend Fire Fighters. Hurray for them and all of the rescue workers of various types throughout the world - without you, where would we be?

AWESOME and moving sight Sandy. They are a breed of their own and we can only thank them daily for their bravery in the life they have chosen. Excellent post and so glad you shared this one.

Some sculptor has done an excellent job on the details of these figures. The clarity of your photo is shown here by the intimate detail we see that was so expertly reproduced by the artist. We are treated to the wrinkles in the gloves and the bend and flow of the sleeves, the detail in the belt and equipment of the upper figure and the most human element of his "bare" hand reaching down to help his fellow fighter up. Your composition is strong here, as it should be, to strengthen and underline the conveyance of the message. That the two figures are off to the side and above our view lends a feeling of courage on their part and awe and admiration for their devotion to duty on ours. The blue sky with the light clouds lets us rest our eye and emotions a bit before we exit the picture, still looking at the juxtaposition of the ladder with its slanted vertical line leaning against the smooth lip of the round column of sturdy stones against which it rests. :)PJ
