Monument Valley has played quite a part, in the lives of many, who have never been there. Film director, John Ford, along with John Wayne, filmed a number of classic Westerns, in this valley of red sandstone monoliths. It is situeted, mainly in Southern Utah, along the Arizona border, and home, to the Navajo. The Mittens, pictured here, is one of the most photographed sites in the U.S., and many of those, taking the pictures, are German and Japanese tourists. And a few Canucks.

Simply stunning. It has a surreal look to it. The framing adds emphasis to the amazing colour. A top picture.

Excellent work from you, Doug. I like the way of presentation and the filters you used. It gives the whole scenery a very soft and dreamy touch without being wishy washy. Good focal points and well balanced color, contrast and saturation. Thumbs up, my friend...

This is a great image Doug ... I've never heard of "The Mittens" but you've taken care of that with your informative description and shown them to me in grand fashion.

I've lived near and been to Monument Valley many times when I was younger, and I can definitely say that as spectacular as the whole valley is, this is one of the best captures I've even seen, including being there. You've really captured more than meets the eye. Wonderful job !!!

Hay Doug. I think this image is very good except for the over contrasted sky line. Thats a major distraction for me and looks like a pic taken from a point and shoot cam on auto mode lol. Other than that the rocks and the ground looks so awesome. Well done.

Hi Doug, I've been away from Caedes for a while and don't have time to comment on every great photo of yours, but this one is really special. I've been to Monument Valley, and have nothing remotely equal to this shot of yours. I especially like the panoramic presentation and the rocks in the foreground that give perspective and "frame" the mittens. Outstanding!

Great job!
