One of many Great Lakes freighters, berthed for the Winter. Taken from Windsor, Canada, Detroit, USA. seems but a good stones throw away, and where the recent Black and White images I've been posting, were captured. Penobscot, the then tallest building in either city, provided me with the alleys and considerable subject material.

I can't decide if you've captured something very beautiful or very ugly, Doug. I see Tigs has already used unique and creative to describe the shot. The skyline is wonderful. The up close and personal look at the stern of the freighter is wonderful. The overall composition is wonderful. Technically the shot looks wonderful. In the VB, I honestly can't tell you if I would give this a 10 or a 1. Something about it gives me the willies. It's either the contrast of subjects or my schizophrenia.

I'm not afraid of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens.

Wonderful tonal range in this B & W. I like how the stern draws my eyes in & leads me to the beautiful skyline. I noticed the bit of reflections between the ice & snow on the water. A nicely composed scene, Doug ... very well done.

It's an unusual and interesting composition. I do prefer photos that show us the uncommon and this is one. Now I'm wondering if the rudder striation was caused by years of motion or of just sitting still at various depths. The little dark puff in the sky appears to me as a distraction but otherwise I like everything about this photo.

WoW....was my first impression!

Composition and clarity are outstanding:o)

Pity that it's not in the B/W contest (closed by now) would have been a winner for sure..for me that is ofcourse...

+favs for me.

I had the opportunity to vote for this for the Art Council so it appears to be well liked. I do like the unusual vantage point and how it seems to be in harmony with the background. B/W was a good choice. I assume the numbering is for how deep it is setting in the water but it could mean something else. I hate to show my stupidity but I am curious.

I can feel the chill in the air just looking at this photo Doug. I like the perspective and before reading your text, I thought that you were out in a small boat when this huge freighter went sailing by.

The thing that goes the farthest, towards making life worthwhile, it costs the least and does the most, is just a pleasant smile.
