is the seagull floating through an upside down dream world or does the bird itself not belong? reflections fascinate me because they can spin my own reality around... and living surrounded by water I encounter them all the time...

Wonderful, Mary! The lines are most certainly blurred between illusion and reality. Where DOES reality begin?

Good post for the contest Mary. It does look like it's caught between illusion and reality. Nice lines and coloring. Good luck.

This is like one of those dreams where one is falling! Yet the bird is so tranquil. What an eye you have.

Hmm ... *thinks better of mentioning something* ... nevermind.

Wonderful post Mary. I like this one A LOT.

Into my favs it goes. :o)

Be curious if you could do some post-sweetening and isolate the gull and play around with the colourations. Perhaps, in an effort to ... for lack of a better word atm (bit brain dead here :o| ) ... lighten it and in turn, enhance the concept of your image.

No matter, it's a very thought provoking image and one that I enjoy. Thank you for posting this one for us. We know who we are, lol. (<--- Just a bit of levity here.)

p.s. Clone out that one branch or debris that is emerging from the water just below and off to the left of the gull. Minor visual distraction really.

EDIT: Just tried doing what I made mention of above .. so, yes ... it is possible to achieve and add to the 'illusory reality' I feel. Some careful masking and the desaturation of that layer or selected part, along with a judicious choice of blending modes ... looks quite good to my eyes as another take on your offering here. Just some thoughts.
