I was wondering if this was your contest entry Dave. It looks like it would be a good one. This would make a great card for many occasions. The background really makes the rest of the scene come to life. Excellent work.

Fractalius? Methinks?

That aside..

Wonderful details retained. Or, in other words ... well controlled application.

And nice on the exposure as well. Be curious as to what the material the statue/ette is made of?

Muted colours and the posturing/expression work well together. Add in the quality of lighting ... good good stuff.

Caveats?

Initial thoughts?

Centered composition.

Part of me wants to nudge her to the right a tad.

However, full screen ... and as mentioned above, the detail and exposure is captivating enough to push those compositional notes to the side.

And I am hard pressed to tell where or what or how.. you manipulated the colours.

Nice one, Dave.

Very pleasant to view.. and contemplate upon this image. Thanks for sharing your artistry and creativity with us. :o)

My Goodness, our dear Les could kill one with boredom [if anybody would read his comments] - nothing personal here since you all know that I do love him with all my heart - otherwise I do like this image and I think this is one of the few that correspond to the contest idea which is 'surreal', and in my opinion this is misunderstood again.
"Surreal" for me is what our John [rozem] demonstrated - or in other words Dali, Salvador Dali, should be our guru.
There is the Dali's touch here and I feel great to be able to cherish and enjoy that.

Wow! Super work on this, Dave. Did you layer the Pixie and the foofies over the fractalius?

I was staring at this when a little friend came to the monitor and told me it was wonderful.

I love the idea of the stone flowers starting to return to life. For me the best part is the fairy's glow, which brings out the fractal design in the background.

Good luck in the contest!

Beautiful composition. It is all very well blended with a good creative use of mediums. I too, however, wonder what it would look like pushed a bit to the right - but I also like it as it is. Well done.
