This is a Bromilead Flower. Took the picture at the very small botanical gardens in South Bend, Indiana. They must not have alot of funds as i was disapointed in the condition of some of plants but managed to to get a few worthy shots. Also this place used to be free but being located next to a very large High School they had problems with the students coming in and messing with the plaques etc. Now they keep the front door locked and someone is there to let you in and take your entrance fee. Rather a sad situation. >< sandi ♪ ♫

Sandi, that's a really nice job with a difficult subject -- getting a crazy object like that in proper focus, and with all parts well-lit, is quite an accomplishment. Plus, it's just plain fun to look at!

Truly a lovely presentation, Sandi. I feel bad for the people of the area to be losing such a wonderful facility. We don't have one in but quite a ways, and I really feel the need for something similar, especially during the wintertime. :)

I love everything about this shot. The clarity is really excellent. As for those high school students, it always saddens me that a few careless individuals end up reflecting so badly on the entire population. But it's true -- I have to work with eyes in the back of my head most of the time (or never turn my back!), at least until they know I'm no pushover.

A sad situation indeed Sandi, if its any consolation, it's much the same here in the UK. As a retired Police Officer I can also say that it will be a long time before it gets any better. However, lets not digress from this lovely shot ! It is a beautiful bloom superb detail on the leaves and buds. I have'nt seen one before, so well done my dear friend.
