I believe this is a male,

I have never seen these beautiful birds at my feeders before.

Shot through double pane window glass, using the canon 70-300 IS USM lens with the kenko DGX 1.4X converter.

Thank you for commenting, postwork done in photofiltre studio.

I was kneeling on the floor and looking up at him for this capture, trying not to scare him off.

I think this could be a Red Shafted Flicker (part of the woodpecker family) click here to help me on this one.

At first I thought it was a yellow bellied sapsucker but I don't think so.

Thanks for commenting, I do appreciate it.

Wow, I bet you were delighted to see this bright beauty at your suet. I have a suet like this hanging out my bathroom window, but I've only seen nuthatches, chickadees and titmice at it so far. Nice to see one of these up close.

Never seen this type of bird before either. But he is very colorful and you captured it perfectly with the clarity and details on him. A wonderful shot.

It sure is beautiful Tigz. At first I thought it was a Meadowlark, but I can see it isn't. George Gobel used to use the say Yellowbellied Sapsucker all the time. Great camera work.

It's most definitely a Flicker & what a treat to see one at your feeder. I like how you brought out the colors on the bird as well as the detail. Beautifully captured Sandi.
