I'm sorry my friends, but I could not keep from removing the other posting. I should not have uploaded it when I was doubtful. :)

I captured this one today and he was situated on the platform feeder just low enough to get the solid background of white from the snow.

Thanks for being patient with me, and thank you for your comments.

I could say I will try to not delete again but that would be hard not to do!

I'm planning on buying the Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM prime lens soon. So that will be something fun to try, and I might end up buying another converter.

It's never ending isn't it! :)

Tigs♥ =^..^=

I also want to dedicate this one to a very special freind who has a birthday tomorrow (Feb. 7th) Happy Birthday Joanie!

You are about as jumpy as this bird Tigz. I like all your shots and don't mind commenting and looking at them. Give me a minute or two before you delete this one however. :)
It is a good shot by the way.

Sandi,
Read up on the NEW Tamron SP AF70-300mm f/4-5.6 DI VC USD at B&H.Be sure to type in all the letters on this lens so that you get the right one. There is an old version of this lens that is not sop good. B&H has good, informative reviews. I do believe I am going to get that lens. See if you can go to Shutterbug's (photo mag) website and read their review on it as well. Not only that, it's only $500 vs $1400 not to mention the size and weight difference.
Nice woodpecker.

He's a beauty, Sandi. Don't see these around here. Where is your feeder? Is it on a pole? I must have chased off a dozen or so gray squirrels today. They take off and almost fly from limb to limb in the trees so they look like acrobats. But, ten minutes later, they are back at the feeder, on top of it, trying to empty the contents to the ground! I give up!

Think you could crop about65% 0f the white from the top, Sandi.

That 300mm"L" lens is actually 480mm on your camera, and without any extender. There's a 1.6X crop factor on any prime lenses,or lenses that will mount both digital and 35mm cameras.
Also, using extenders other then Canon on "L" series lenses could quite possibly degrade the lens output quality.
The 70-300mm Canon zoom lens you have is actually 112mm to 480mm.
Hope you're not being influenced by a camera shop employee.
While "L" series lenses are of exceptional quality, and proportionately priced, they are designed for the professional series cameras that have a significantly larger sensor(same size as 35mm) and price out in the 4 to 6 thousand range.

Lovely capture Tigz, I'm enjoying your bird feeder shots very much, but the focus is a bit too sharp in my humble opinion.

He is a fine looking speciment and well captured :)
I think he should be called red-headed. His head redder than his belly :)
He looks as though wearing a little helmet !

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . .
