Took this one today at the Calendar gardens, this was a reach for the 70-200 lens, so it too alot of cropping.

This is my first bird capture using AV mode on the canon 40D, (f5.6, exp. 1/2500 sec. ISO 400, 180 mm.

I did not have time to make any adj. I managed two shots, before it flew off.

Thanks in advance for your comments, I hope you all had a nice day, I sure did, it was a beautiful day to take pics.

A fave and save for me Sandi - we have hummies visit our terrace flowers every summer and I've had no luck catching any of them - this is truly a marvelous capture both of the bird and the Turks Cap lilies.

absolutely perfect in AV Tigs. apertures wide open to grab as much light for those high shutter speeds of 1/2500 is great. 180mm out of 200mm still aint bad considering your not going to get very close to this action with out them flying off. iso 400 aided in the light as well, nice choice but not enough to throw grain..none i see in the DOF veiwed full screen. the color is awesome. i keep trying but still havent gotten a hummer off anything but a feeder. nice job!!

Sandi - The little hummers flit about our trumpet vine throughout the day. But, I haven;t had this kind of success in photographing them. Kudos! Thad

Cute little humming bird Sandi! I've been seeing them around where I live. I don't remember seeing them. We have different birds but rarely do I see a hummer. Nice color, composition and sharpness! Thank you! Allen

Amazing shot. I have yet to capture a decent hummingbird shot. They don't sit still long enough for me.

This is a really great capture of a hummingbird in flight Sandi. How else would you capture a hummer? The benefit is there is a dazzling beautiful flower to go with it.
