Awhile back I met someone at the calendar gardens, that told me about a very neat place, we shared emails, and they sent me the directions to the home of Lee & Sandy Beer, who live maybe about 15 miles from me.

Lee is a farmer, and auctioneer, who has spent the last 16 years making his property a treasure trove of oldies.

He explained to me that their location was once a unincorporated area called Hastings,Indiana from the 1800's.

He has been able to buy the old buildings that made up the location, and moved them onto his property. Since he is an auctioneer, he has the resources and connections to acquire lots of old goodies to put into the buildings. This is truly a unique place, and his wife and I ended spending a good amount of time, chatting while sitting on the old swing, and I was invited into her lovely home for a glass of ice water, and more chat. I have the invite to go back, and I will that is for sure.I need only to call, and ask, and make sure they don't have something special going on. What a treasure trove this place is, it's amazing all of the effort he has put into it, and to think he was able to even do this amazes me.

We are now friends on facebook, and I'm posting my pictures there for her too see.

I can only imagine the stories this old wagon could tell us.

Thank you in advance for commenting.

That wagon is most probably from the 18th century Sandi. A rare find and a good b/W capture of it.

You have made a great job of this Sandi - wonderful history and I can imagine a set of these similarly edited, hanging on a wall.
Super work !

Thank you for adding it to the BWC :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Fantastic B&W work on this Sandi - the rusticity level is perfect to highlight this old wagon. What an interesting place this must be.

First things first Sandi: thanks for this splendid entry for the Wednesday B&W challenge. Excellent work!

The combination of narrative and image already have made a lot clear to me, but I agree with you that there's still an important part left over to our imagination. Kudos, my friend!

The treatment really makes it pop Sandi. That's a real good one for the B&W challenge. Just think someone possibly made a trip in that wagon. My Grandpa was born in the late 1800's. I bet, if he were alive, he could tell you about wagons.

What a super find. How lucky can a person get? I'm not a fan of B&W but this capture is A-1. Looking forward to more.

Fabulous historical find and super capture and b/w for the challenge...as a side note, I always found the surname Beer rather unique...I have a sister-in-law whose maiden name was Beer...wonder if there's any connection.
