I was fortunate to visit a unique museum today with friends. It is Lizzadro Lapidary Museum. They have all sorts of lapidary artworks particularly jade carvings. This statue was about 18" high and carved of white jade and studded with rubies and sapphires. It depicts a miner with pick axe, lamp and a collection basket on his back. All the grey material is agate. The craftsmanship in this hand carved piece was amazing. I have many other shots from my visit today which I will post occasionally. The link will take you to their website.

Think every miner wished that he could afford such a suit. It doesn't show the reality, but therefore it's art.

Very fine and interesting capture Kathy. Thanks for the link too.
