This is the special operations vehicle from the Northbrook IL fire department. It was parked on my street as part of a training operation. This vehicle responds to regular fires as well as hazardous materials situations and other special incidents. It also works with NIPSTA which I explain below in a statement from the NIPSTA website. "The Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) is an intergovernmental agency comprised of municipalities, fire protection districts, and other organizations located in the Chicago metropolitan area that have combined energies and resources to create a regional, state-of-the-art public safety training facility." They train for all types of emergencies and even have railroad tracks and rail cars on their site to assist with training. Their training facility is about a mile from where I live.

Very good details on the fire engine Kathy I understand that the fire service uses volunteers, I've even heard of convicts helping to put out bush fires in the summer.
Btw I'd never volunteer for a dangerous job without pay, things are different in Europe.

The term "Special Operations" has quite a few meanings in the US hey Kathy, it's good to see the fire department keep themselves busy! We regularly get firefighters coming to Detroit for intense training.

An image close to my heart Kathy as I have a son who is a firefighter/paramedic.

This is a vehicle I am familiar with...here these vehicles are called "Rescue Trucks". When they are 'toned' out we know it is something serious.

Great image, good quality, clarity and color.
