A tropical shrub brought into Europe in the mid 1850's from China and Japan. It was named after German scientist Christian Ehrenfried Weigel. Blooms in June in my area and mostly seen in the pink shades but there is also a creamy yellow that is quite pretty but more rare.

Excellent composition with the proper and balanced use of light and shadows Kathy.

Christian Ehrenfried (von) Weigel (1748-1831) was not only a scientist but a botanist as well. In that latter capacity, he knew very well where he was talking about!

Thanks for this wonderful post my friend.
