That is the true name of this and I couldn't tell you why unless the edges look like mouse ears. It was a rich deep golden color.

Have never seen mice with golden ears, Kathy, ☺ .
In my humble opinion the name of this flower doesn't justice to its beauty.

Its a gorgeous colour and I like the big bold blooms very much :)
I think it is the leaves that resemble mouse ears :) Sometimes known as Ear-leaved Coreopsis
