Also known as monarda and originally only found in North America. Although I imagine with hybridization it is found elsewhere now. This one was unusual as I had never seen any speckling on the tubular flower petals before. A favorite of hummingbirds and butterflies.

Kathy, this wonderful flower is in my country known as Bergamot, because of its scent, rather similar to the Bergamot orange.

Bergamot oil is even used to add flavor to tea leaves. Nice shot of this unusual flower Kathy.

Yes, I too know this as Bergamot - and a very useful and clever plant it is too.
