No this is not my nickname although it could be! This is a variety of Helenium which blooms in July - September when other things are fading. It is native to North America and Central America and it is considered one of our native prairie flowers. This one however is a hybridized cultivar. This one combines a dwarf growing habit with a longer bloom time. The bold orange and gold flowers have molasses-colored cones that draw butterflies summer to fall. Helenium is a large genus that is especially valuable because it delivers bold colors on sturdy plants that bloom in August and September, when few perennials are at their peak.

Good name for this one as it is 'short and sassy'...looks like it has a lot of spunk...a 'cute' and colorful specimen...great shot!

Kathy, the first line of your narrative confirms to me that you've a good sense of humor!
Good 'vantage point' has resulted in a very good floral close-up composition. Wonderful (in particular detailed and colorful) image!

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
