The botanical name is Perovskia atriplicifolia. It has become enormously popular in my area over the last 2 decades. I see it everywhere. I like it early when it first blooms as in this shot, but not so much as summer goes on as it looks washed out and rangy.

Kathy, in my country Perovskia flowers are categorized as Salvia species (Salvia yangii).
In my country they are often used in garden borders.
Very fine capture, taken at a proper time when they are at the finest.
