This is a female Argiope spider, more commonly known as a garden spider. They are always found face down in their web, they are also found in the center of the web witch this one is not because I startled it by accident. It worked out in my favor because she went to the top of the web which made it much easier to photograph. If she was in the center of the web she would have been about nine to ten inches lower and at that point only about maybe twelve to sixteen inches off the ground. They also tend to build their web at a slight angle so that its head and eyes are tilted away from the front side of the web. Thanks for stopping in.

You did manage this one very well. This might be the same kind that built a huge web in my yard, that extends from the ground to a lower branch. This is a much better shot than the one I got of mine. =^..^=tigs
