First I'd better explain why this lighthouse looks so short, since a couple have commented. There is a pathway that leads to the lighthouse, and it winds around to the left and downward. I was at the upper level and took the photo shot there. This name of this lighthouse is Three Capes and is located outside of Tillamook, Or. So I decided to post this as my entry to the current frame contest. I haven't been happy with what I posted before this and then this lovely lighthouse did it for me! I love how the flaming red of the light itself is surrounded by the glass frame. It's an amazing thing to realize what lighthouses are for and how that lens works, it's huge and bright. It is the ONLY lighthouse in Oregon where the lens is still lit so brightly and can be seen upclose. You can actually go inside!! I hope you'll enjoy this also. And thank you for taking a look.

This is a cool photo. I love the contrasting red against a predominantly monochromatic background. Good luck in the contest.

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

What happened to the rest of the lighthouse? Are they building it from the top down? LOL. Nice image, Verena. Good idea for the contest until your next entry. LOL. Good luck.

Verena - And, if there's a contest for the world's shortest lighthouse, this entry will be a sure winner on that contest too! Wonderful composition, lighting and color. The clarity of details is great, especially showing the fresnel lens so well. The clouds subtly remind us of why lighthouses serve such an important role is sea travel. Best of luck in the contest. It's not the size of the lighthouse that counts, it's the brightness of its lamp. :)
A fantastic capture of the lighthouse Verena. Nice clarity and perspective. A great job.

This is a splendid capture for the contest, Verena! That red is stunning, and I love the green texture on the light, and the outer black trim work! This is about the closest I have come to being near a lighthouse, and must say I am amazed! I also love how you captured it, backed by the waters and fluffy gray clouds! Excellent work and best of luck in the contest!
